In the city of Budapest, there’s no shortage of amazing locations for your next photo shoot. From awe-inspiring architecture to romantic viewpoints and hip urban enclaves, there’s a wealth of photographic opportunities waiting to be explored. However, while the city’s main squares and monuments offer plenty of opportunities to capture the perfect shot, there are also some lesser-known gems that will give you a unique perspective on the city’s best features.

The Chain Bridge

The Chain Bridge is a well-known Budapest landmark, and one that’s particularly popular with photographers. Located on the edge of the Buda side of the Danube, the bridge offers some incredible views over the river and city. At night, it’s a great place to take long exposures and timelapses to capture the lights of the city.

During the day, the bridge is equally as impressive, with its distinctive red-and-white colour scheme. It’s the perfect location to shoot some candid photos of locals, or even a portrait of yourself with the bridge in the background.

For those looking for a more interactive experience, the Budapest Shooting Centre is the place to go. Offering a range of packages, the center offers an opportunity to fire a variety of guns ranging from handguns to automatic weapons. Prices vary depending on which package you choose, but the most expensive option is a full-on war zone shooting experience that lets you try guns that you’d normally only see in Hollywood movies like Rambo or Terminator.

Budapest is also home to the Churchill Shooting Range, which is more geared towards fun than the other shooting ranges. This facility is a bit out of the way, being around 15km from downtown Budapest. However, the drive there is actually an advantage as you’ll be able to enjoy some beautiful countryside views while making your way to the range.

This venue offers a more structured shooting experience with a range of packages available to suit all budgets. The most basic package includes 30 shots with a single gun, while the highest level package allows you to shoot a total of 23 different guns.

The Churchill Shooting Range is also one of the only places in town where you can fire a machine gun, which is a real treat for anyone who has ever wanted to try their hand at a real weapon used in war. Once you’ve fired your last round from your package, you can take on what they call the Churchill Challenge, a test of speed and accuracy that will have you competing with other shooters on their leaderboard.

The Jewish Quarter is another fantastic area of the city to explore for some incredible Instagrammable shots. The streets are lined with quaint little shops and cafes, and the area is also home to the Dohany Street Synagogue, which is the largest synagogue in Europe!
